December 2011 - 130th Varsity Match

varsity-match.jpg

Integral hosted  more than 20 guests for the Varsity Match at Twickenham RFU.  After meeting at the Marriot hotel we watched an exciting first half, which put Oxford in the lead.  Oxford University went on to defeat Cambridge University 28-10 in rugby union’s 130th Varsity Match, giving the Dark Blues consecutive victories for the first time since they won three straight in 2000-02.

It was Integral’s 6th year of hosting guests at the Varsity Match and this year was by far the best yet and the warmest of weathers!!

Everyone had a thoroughly good time and after the match drinks, including discussions about team play, we all retired to one of our favourite Indian restaurants in Twickenham.

A big thank you to all who made the event such a special day.

A Night with the Stars – Kids Taskforce Annual Gala Dinner

Kidstaskforce-logo.jpg

Continuing our support to the Kids Taskforce, Integral invited 10 guests to join us at their annual dinner.

Kids Taskforce’s fifth annual gala event was hosted by BBC newsreader Nicholas Owen and sponsored by Barclaycard.

Children from three primary schools who star in the new Kids Taskforce promotional film gave a short presentation to guests including Spurs striker Jermain Defoe, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Kristina Rihanoff and sports commentator Steve Rider.  They described how the missdorothy.com programme helped them to learn about a variety of safety issues before the Nokia-funded film was screened for the 132 guests.

The Secretary of State for Wales, the Rt Hon Cheryl Gillian, gave up her Whitehall office for a day for the filming and told guests she would happily vacate the building again for such a worthwhile cause.  And Children’s Minister Tim Loughton congratulated Kids Taskforce on its engagement with young people and early intervention programmes.

The event was also attended by Cherie Blair and her daughter Kathryn, who is a Kids Taskforce youth ambassador.  Kathryn spoke of being able to engage with young people and keep abreast of change on behalf of Kids Taskforce, together with her fellow ambassadors from across the country.

Integral have been a proud supporter of Kids Taskforce for a number of years.  We donate a percentage of our profits on all TONERmiser software sales, a solution which can reduce your toner and ink consumption by up to 50%.

If you or your organisation would like to help the Kids Taskforce further then we would be delighted to hear from you.

November 2011 - A note from Phoebe Armstrong (Integral Internal Account Manager) after the completion of her charity climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro……

Kilimanjaro-small.jpg

I have just returned from Tanzania, East Africa after completing this mammoth task I set for myself at the end of last year.

My 2 friends and I decided we wanted to achieve something amazing this year so we decided to set ourselves a challenge that we thought we would never be able to achieve! The 3 of us are not into hiking or trekking or getting dirty so we decided that we should climb the World’s highest free standing mountain- Mt Kilimanjaro.

After deciding that this is what we were going to do, we then thought why not do it for charity?! We set ourselves a target to raise £12,000 for our chosen charity, Help for Heroes.

After a tough year of fundraising every weekend and training ourselves during the week we finally reached our target of £12,000 and were almost fit enough to embark on our challenge!

Time just disappeared and before we knew it we were sitting on our Kenya Airways flight giggling to each other and sipping nervously at our gin and tonics knowing that what lay ahead was not going to be easy!

The trek itself lasted for 9 days and was most definitely that hardest thing I have ever done in my entire life! However reaching the Summit of Kilimanjaro at 8.45am on 26th October 2011 made all of the tiredness and aching worthwhile! We had all achieved something that we never though was possible and to top it all off we also raised a lot of money for a very worthy cause.

I am so proud of myself for going through with this challenge and now feel like I can achieve anything in life! I’m not sure I would recommend it to others though!

September 2011 – Integral go to Monte Carlo

monaco-small.jpg

As a client of Roger Foord associates, Integral was invited to join the highly prestigious Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous (International Insurance Convention) in Monaco.  The convention is about bringing together major players in the world of re-insurance.

Roger Foord has been involved in technology in the London market since 1977 and has vast experience of both the business and technology requirements.  Roger Foord Associates offer consultancy services covering the existing and proposed issues affecting the market and they can make introductions at the highest level for IT solutions suppliers.

The event spanned 4 days and was truly memorable.  The hosts were extremely inviting and made you feel relaxed and comfortable.  A great location to meet new contacts in an informal yet business like event.

Roger Foord has advised and assisted Integral to expand its footprint into the insurance sector with high level introductions to the Lloyd’s market-place.  Since our partnership, Integral has won new business accounts with Charles Taylor Consulting, Canopius Managing Agents, JLT Group and Liberty International Underwriters.

The convention itself proved to be very successful and will result in many more business introductions and partnerships.

Local Woman Climbing Kilimanjaro for Help for Heroes

phoebe-armstrong.jpg

Phoebe Armstrong, an employee at Integral and a true St Margarets girl, who went to Orleans Infants, St Stephens and Orleans Park School is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with two girlfriends on 20th October 2011 to help raise funds for the charity Help for Heroes and she needs our help. As their leaving date gets nearer, they need a final push to get to their target of £12,000. So far they have raised an impressive £9,934.94 by standing on the A316 with their Help for Heroes buckets on major rugby days and by having donation pots in the Turks Head Pub.

So if you can, please help the 3 Blondes reach their goal.

Advisory board member Dom O'Riley runs for charity.

dom-o-riley.jpg

Dom’s Solo Charity Run from Liverpool to London: 8 marathons in 7 days.

Never say never! In 2008 I ran by myself, armed with only a rucksack, a spare pair of pants, toothbrush and wallet, from Exeter to London in 8 days..With the help of a lot of people we raised over £7500 for MS, Breast Cancer research and two smaller charities..I called it Thunderrun after the band Thunder and vowed never to do it again because a) Thunder decided to split up 2 months later and b) it really hurt...

It’s now 2011 and time helps you forget and in my case decide to do it again..
Thunderrun2 is happening for a number of reasons..

1) My parents come from Liverpool and I live near London
2) I keep running to stop me becoming totally unfit
3) There are some really good causes that need money and by me getting donations I cant get out of it so...

I’ve decided to run from Liverpool (home of the Beatles as well as my folks), to Richmond (spiritual home of the Stones) in one week...over 200 miles in 7 days.

I’m doing it for MS (which has affected my family and friends) as well as Kids Task force (www.kidstaskforce.com), a fantastic charity which is helping children in Britain learn how to handle risk and lead a safer life.

Kids Task Force is supported by the PFA and if I could get all the friends and family I know, and the PFA members in the premier and football leagues to donate 30 minutes of their pay it would make a huge difference to the charities

In today’s economic climate, a lot of charities are having their funding strangled and it’s a job just to survive. Kids Task Force and MS are no different and so every fund raising activity becomes the lifeblood of these charities. If we can spread the word and get everyone we know including PFA members to donate just 30 minutes of pay, I believe we would raise enough to keep Kids Task Force running for many months (if not years) as well as helping MS Society to find the cure that everyone is looking for.

I’m also donating a smaller amount to the Hammersmith Academy fund set up by the ITC, and to the Royal Berks Cancer Centre who are treating my Dad magnificently (as well as many others)

Everyone has been superb in the past supporting me and so please spread the word..Every pound we raise makes it more worthwhile...and even harder for me to chicken out!

To donate you can go to just giving on the link below and  they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
